A day at the beach for the family is often awesome, you can have a great time even if you just sit and watch the kids. Building sand castles is another great activity at the beach.
Minehead beach, known as The Strand, is a wide expanse of sand. As the tide goes out this sandy stretch of beach becomes ideal for beach games and for building sandcastles.
Greenaleigh Sands
Greenaleigh Sand is a secluded stretch of beach,given that the beach is only really accessible after a fair walk it is generally empty.
Minehead Terminus
Minehead’s north-facing sand and is a shingle beach. Good for swimming, kite-surfing and windsurfing, with easy access to amusement arcades.
Dunster (South)
This sand and pebble beach with views towards South Wales. The 5-mile long West Somerset Coastal Path passes the beach, so the area is also popular with walkers at any time of year.
Brean Beach
A 7-mile stretch of sand and dunes that make up Brean beach with one of the longest stretches of sand in Europe. The beach is popular with walkers, dog walkers and beach sport enthusiasts.
Burnham-on-Sea Beach
Burnham-on-Sea beach has an exceptional stretch of beach. Complete with promenade lined with Victorian and Edwardian guest houses Burnham was originally envisaged as a rival to nearby Weston-super-Mare.
Trecco Bay (Porthcawl) Beach
Also known as Bae Trecco, a safe and sandy beach, just over two kilometres long. Located on a low limestone headland twenty miles from Swansea, the beach is mainly rock and sand. The Porthcawl promenade itself is extensive, with a small funfair, Coney Beach, as well as numerous bars, cafes, hotels and restaurants, and views over the Bristol Channel. The water quality is excellent, making it suitable for paddling and swimming. Close by is a a small car park.
